Moving Our Village Downtown Forward!
In February 2024, the Village of Webster, New York was selected by Governor Kathy Hochul to receive $4.5 million through the NY Forward community revitalization program! The Webster Economic Development Alliance spearheaded this collaborative community-building effort amongst the Village, School District, and Business Improvement District. As part of the competitive process, the Village submitted an application of our Vision to improve our Downtown business district.

Local Planning Committee Update
From May to October 2024, the Local Planning Committee (LPC) convened to discuss the continued revitalization of the Village of Webster downtown area. Over the course of 6 meetings, the LPC:
- Developed a vision for Downtown, including goals for revitalization.
- Reviewed key demographic and market data to support revitalization.
- Announced an open round seeking funding proposals from the private sector.
- Reviewed and scored project proposals against the community's vision and goals.
- Selected a slate of projects to recommend to NYS for funding consideration.

Proposed Project Reviews
A public Call-for-Projects was made from June 20 to July 26 2024 where businesses, property owners and residents can propose projects for funding consideration.

NY Forward Project Development Process
At the September and October LPC meetings, the LPC reviewed submitted projects for consideration. A total of 24 project requests were received seeking over $11.5m in funds. Upon initial review, 20 of these projects were determined to be eligible for consideration based on the type of funding assistance requested.
Of the 20 projects identified as eligible, 13 proposals totaling $8.4m in requests were initially highlighted as a best-fit for the Village of Webster NY Forward Program.
At the October 9, 2024 LPC Meeting, the preliminary collection of 13 projects being reviewed by the LPC for consideration was further refined to reach a slate of recommended projects totaling between $6-$8m for inclusion in the Village's Strategic Investment Plan to be sent to the State. Upon their review, State agencies will select $4.5m worth of investment from the LPC's list of projects.
The final Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) is anticipated to be delivered to the State by its consultant in December 2024. The SIP will then be reviewed by several state agencies, and a final list of projects to be awarded funding from the $4.5m allocated to the Village of Webster. Final selections are anticipated to be made in late Spring 2025.
